Jože Šifrar

Jože Šifrar

Drugi tenor

Član ansambla 1964 – 1974

Jože Šifrar was one of the founding members of the quintet Fantje s Praprotna, who joined the Lojze Slak Ensemble together with the singing group in 1964. Due to his specific voice many young singers at that time wanted to imitate him in voice and singing. He was a mechanical technician and was regularly employed in the LTH factory in Škofja Loka.

He performed with the Lojze Slak Ensemble until January 1974, when he died in a car accident near his home in the Selška Valley. He co-created many unforgettable evergreen songs with his sonorous voice. At his tragic death, the ensemble has dedicated a melody to him entitled: Glas njegov v spomin (His voice in memory) and the song Zvončki (Snowflakes). The song was a combination of a new song and an excerpt from Jože's solo, taken from the song Dve let' in pol (Two and a Half Years).

(December 7, 1939, Praprotno - January 16, 1974, buried in Selce nad Škofjo Loko)
